Below you will find some important details outlining how best to prepare your pet for their surgery appointment. Please read them in their entirety and be sure to let us know if you have any questions!
Bathe Your Pet Bathe your pet, if possible, because after surgery your pet will not be able to get wet for approximately two weeks until their incision is healed. Bathing your pet before surgery can help prevent infection and will keep them clean and comfortable at home after surgery.
Fasting Do not allow your pet to eat after midnight the evening before surgery. Water should be available up to the time of surgery.
Arrival Time Please arrive at your scheduled time to check in for your pet’s surgery. Allow yourself 30 minutes for the check-in process. During this process, you will be asked questions about your pet's health and be required to sign an anesthetic consent form.
What To Bring You may bring a small meal for us to feed after the procedure when indicated.
Payment Payment for services rendered on the day of surgery will be required before your pet is discharged. During check-in, you will receive an estimate outlining fees for services. If questions should arise regarding charges, please be sure to ask immediately.
Returning Home When you pick your pet up they may be tired and groggy. Please have a quiet, warm place prepared at home ahead of time for your pet to continue recovering that is separate from other pets.
The team at Springs Family Veterinary Hospital take the relationship with our clients and patients very seriously. We want you to feel at ease entrusting us with your furry family member and are happy to answer any questions at any stage in the process.
